[About the actual vehicle]
- During World War II, the United States implemented the Lend-Lease Act, which lent military supplies to allied countries.
- Provided various supplies to Britain, the Soviet Union, China, etc.
- Those supplies became a major driving force behind the Allied victory.
- Britain, which was lagging behind in the development of land weapons, especially tanks, was loaned more than 17,000 M4 Sherman tanks by the United States and used them from the North African front.
- Meanwhile, the 17-pound gun, which had been under development, was completed in 1943.
- The British army decided to replace the M4 Sherman's 75mm cannon with this powerful anti-tank gun, the 17-pounder.
- The turret has been modified to provide space for 17-pounders of different sizes, and a new hatch for the loader has been added.
- The 17-pounder Sherman, nicknamed FiFly, began service in 1944.
- He was active in Europe, including Normandy, until the end of the war.
[About the model]
- The model is a 1/35 scale reproduction of the modified VC type Firefly based on the M4A4 type.
- In addition to the aluminum gun barrel, this kit includes 3D printed parts such as two British soldier figures, a muzzle brake, an antenna base, and a light guard.
- The turret equipped with a long-barreled 17-pound gun has a box shape at the rear of the turret, a hatch for the loader, etc., which are faithfully reproduced.
