First edition, this copy a third printing printing from 1955; stated "Second Impression" on copyright page, but lacking the "1955" date on the title page. Stated "Second Impression" at top of front flap. Folding map at rear. 

Allen & Unwin issued 3000 copies of the third printing in the UK; this copy was originally sold in Edinburgh in April of 1956; original receipt laid in.

Condition: Soiling and some light wear to white DJ, spine toned, some chipping along top edge, small losses at head and heel of spine. Some wear to red cloth, mostly at head of spine; usual toning to endpapers where not protected by DJ flaps, rectangle of toning to ffep from laid in receipt, otherwise internally clean. Folding map fine.
