Tech Notes

Variations

The 1996-and-on Ford Old Body Style F-Series and Bronco door window motor differs from previous years, What does that imply for the door window mechanism? We do not know yet.

The 1992 through 1995 Ford Old Body Style F-Series and Bronco door window mechanisms are significantly different as to manual or electric operation. The base of the manual one is angled; the base of the electric one is straight. Two distinct door window motors are used: one has a six-sided body, and one has a round body. The bolt patterns are not interchangeable, so the type of mechanism must match the type of motor. The six-sided motor has a mechanism with an embossed three-sided design near the attachment bolts, sort of like a square letter "U." The round motor has a mechanism with an embossed simple design near the attachment bolts, sort of like a letter "I."

As for prior years, we are still learning.

Interchangeability across Years

According to the schematics we have seen, the 1987-and-on front door window motors are essentially the same as long as you do not mix up the driver side and passenger side. However, visual inspections suggest there might be more to it, so we propose you remove the part from your Ford and compare it visually to the pictures in the listing. Buy only if the shape and structure seem the same.

Quality

The part we are offering here is a used but genuine Ford part. It was most likely original equipment (OE) installed at the factory when the car was manufactured. The company who supplied this part is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
