This listing is for an Original Equipment GM COMPLETELY REBUILT Center Console PERFORMANCE/SLAP Shifter for a 1969 Firebird, Formula, or Trans Am, that is equipped with a center console and a 3-speed automatic (350/400) transmission. This is a one year only shifter, only for a 1969. It has been COMPLETELY rebuilt. Comes as shown with a nice used lever that is about 1" taller than the stock lever. Comes exactly as shown in the pictures.

It's an original equipment option that came with the high-performance models and is a stock factory option that bolts in using the original hardware, trim, and shifter cable. It's one of the easiest upgrades you can make to your car! Here's how it works. It has the ratchet-like feature that allows you to go from first to second gear, then from 2nd to third (drive) gear without accidentally skipping gears or sliding into neutral. Simply push or "Slap" the shifter lever to the right and forward, it will only slide from one gear up and lock into place. If done again it will slide to the next gear and lock into place again.

It has been completely disassembled, cleaned, worn or damaged pieces replaced, glass beaded, clear coated, reassembled, and lubricated and works like a brand-new shifter. It has a nice used lever that is about 1" taller than the stock lever for a 1969. The shifter housing has been ZINC-PLATED and is in good condition with the typical light pitting that will not be seen when installed. A great finishing touch to any restoration.
