As the children of musician parents, brothers Don and Phil Everly came into contact with show business at an early age. Together with their mother, they were already part of the radio program „The Everly Family Show“ on the morning program of a local radio station at the age of six and eight. A few years later, as The Everly Brothers, they became the most successful band of the era before The Beatles. With their blend of folk, bluegrass and hillbilly country music and their harmony-driven two-part vocals, they created an entirely new pop sound that served as a model for later artists such as the Beatles, Beach Boys, Hollies, Simon & Garfunkel and many others. With 33 Top 40 listings in the British charts, 26 Top 40 songs in the U.S. charts and seven Number 1 hits, the duo set new standards in pop history and created songs for eternity. A look at Great Britain shows how timeless the brothers‘ music really is; there, the Everly Brothers have been represented in the charts with at least one album of their hits in every decade since 1960.
