Formulated using Willowbark extract this face wash has a salicylic acid concentration of 1.5%. Great to support acneic and oily skin or when you need that gentle weekly exfoliation! ~ 4.5pH Use this product 1-2 times a week in a double cleanse routine if looking to exfoliate. 2-3 times a week for acneic & oily skin. This luxurious formula is enriched with a carefully selected essential oil blend of lavender, copaiba, geranium, sweet marjoram, Clary sage, fennel, and tea tree to offer a calming aromatic. ~ Salicylic is salicylic acid (BetaHydroxyAcid), which is a chemical compound that can be manufactured or found in nature in things like Willowbark. It is oil loving (lipophilic) so it easily penetrates pores and begins to work on things like acne, inflammation, redness, may fade hyperpigmentation over time, and help support an even skin tone and complexion. Often times it’s found in products as the isolated form which is recommended not to exceed more than 2% in the total formulation. However Willow Bark Extract has been found to be non-irritating to the skin, even at a level of 100%, equivalent to 10% synthetic salicylic acid. In vitro tests have shown Willow Bark Extract to have activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Propionibacterium acnes, the two strains of bacteria implicated in the formation of acne. Willow Bark Extract has also been found to increase stratum corneum turnover more so than salicylic acid - 24% as opposed to 22%.
