Q: Which gear ratio should I go with? Only need it to go max 5mph
A: Numbers are approximate as there are many variables to calculate.
RS550 w/ 26:1 Gearbox = 15 MPH
RS775 w/ 38:1 Gearbox = 9 MPH
RS775 w/ 256:1 Gearbox = 1 MPH
I assume an RC Transmitter or some other type of PWM will be used to control speed.
I also believe you said your payload is light, less than 50 lbs. The 550 w/ 26:1 gearbox is probably your most cost effective.A 4S battery pack (14 volts) will give good power.A 3S battery pack (11 volts) will work but you may find it sluggish at slower speeds and maneuvering.
