Late 1940's Philadelphia Disston D8 20" 10 TPI crosscut panel saw.

This little fine toothed D8 panel saw is in great condititon, We've given it a full service and a bit of a clean up, it's now ready to head out to a new owner and get back to work.

The plate is dead straight, no kinks or bows. The handle is in good shape with no damage to the horns. The toothline has been jointed flat, the teeth hand shaped, set and filed to a crosscut pattern with approx 10 degrees of rake and 20 degrees of fleam. The saw was missing it's medallion but i just happened to have a brand new 80 year old one of the correct variant in stock. This is one of the last 'proper' D8s, It dates from somewhere between 1947 and 1953, The handles up until '47 were made of Apple, post '47 ones are Beech. After '53 the Disston company was sold to HK Porter and the saws were redesigned and cheapened significantly. This is one of the final generation of genuine Philadelphia Disston saws.

These shorter, finer toothed saws are fantastic saws for general bench work, the fine tooth pattern gives a clean finish and smooth cutting action.
