Chess set was purchased in early 1950's or late 1940's. Pieces are wood with the ebony mirrored shine. Pieces are weighted and have green felt on the bottom.  Pieces are in very good vintage condition. There are no broken or chipped pieces detected. All stand straight and sturdy. King measures 3 1/4;" Queen 3 1/8;" Bishop 2 3/8;" Knight 2 3/16;" Rook 1 7/8;" Pawn 1 5/8"

Black pieces look like new (the felt bottom is coming  up just a tiny bit on the king and one pawn). Few tiny, tiny marks on knights' heads where color has chipped off (microscopic in size)

Camel color pieces also have a mirrored shine to them. Green felt on bottom is coming up a tiny bit on eight of these. Green felt has come off of two of the pawns (see photo) exposing the weight that is in the bottom of each piece. The camel color pieces show some minimal signs of being handled over the years. The queen is missing.

The wood box is the original storage box. Measures 7 3/4" x 4 1/4" x 3" high. It is hinged and has a front hook to secure it. The box shows ware from handling but no chips or broken parts. "Made in France" is etched on the bottom.

In research this appears to be a Staunton set as carvings and appearance of pieces match similar Staunton sets.
