ROBERT SHORTY RANKIN P-47 Fighter Pilot Ace Signed Photo 10 Kills 56th FG

Hand-signed 8 x 10 photo:

Robert J Rankin

CONDITION:  Mint / Perfect

Size:  8 x 10

Only one of these exists.  It was not one of those photos created in assembly line fashion.  This is the only one.

Personally, I think this is the most intriguing Ace photo I have ever seen.  It takes the classic wartime photo of a Thunderbolt firing all eight 50s loaded with plenty of tracer against a dark background, and then shorty signed it with a silver pen, making for the most striking Ace photo I have seen.  This one will stand out in any collection.  It's brilliant!

This photo was signed on July 23, 2011 at Shorty's home.  A picture of Shorty in his modern day 56th FG flight jacket is included for provenance.

Shorty Rankin was a very friendly man full of great stories.

Shelved in a non-smoking, climate-controlled home.
