These early islamic coins were struck in the style of contemporary coins of the Byzantine Empire around the time of Constans II. They represent a unique style blending Christian Byzantine motifs (cross on the emperors crown) with Greek and Arabic inscriptions. These coins were issued very early in the history of Islam; within 50-100 years after the death of Muhammad.
