The agar medium is a general-purpose growth substrate designed to support the cultivation of a wide range of microorganisms, including bacteria and fungi. Pre-poured agar plates are suitable for use in educational settings, such as classroom experiments or science fair projects as well as laboratory or domestic research and cultivation.

Agar is formulated with industry standard ingredients: 

• Nutrient: agar, yeast extract, peptone and sodium chloride.
• MEYA: agar, glucose, peptone, yeast extract, malt extract.
• MEA: agar, malt extract, peptone.
• PDA: agar, potato extract, glucose.

The agar medium is prepared using water purified with a Millipore Milli-Q laboratory water system. It is sterilised by autoclaving and subsequently poured within a sterile laminar flow hood. Each petri dish is individually sealed with Parafilm to maintain sterility and ensure product integrity.
