Published in 1881 by Edward Stanford, London, this is a delightful Victorian school atlas titled The Instructive Atlas of Modern Geography. All pages are loose leaf and contained within a thick board cover - the pages may have been fixed into the binding originally?
The cover has an interesting decorative illustration which features numerous geographical subjects including Victorian factories and railways.
The atlas was part of a series of educational 'Instructive Picture Books' as detailed on the reverse board.
Size approximately 36cms x 22cms.
Blue cloth spine. Thick board covers.
17 maps as shown in the contents list - all are loose leaf.
I am not a map expert but this seems to be an interesting and highly collectable Victorian atlas.
