Church of Santa Prisca and San Sebastian in Taxco Mexico
This black and white piece was painted by F Palestino. I first thought it might be watercolor, but then I found another similar piece that went to auction and it was described as ink wash. When I acquired it, it had a larger piece of card stock behind the painting that served as a border, but it was cracking and falling apart because of its age. I cut off the damaged card stock, but since this painting was attached to it, it still has card stock on the back. So it’s actually two layers. The painting and the cardstock. The painting is its original size.
I did some research and found that this painting is most likely the church of Santa Prisca and San Sebastian, but I couldn’t find anything on the artist F Palestino. This is a beautiful painting, that deserves a good home.
In the last picture, it looks like there might be a wrinkle in the painting stretching from the lantern to the church, steeple, but it’s not. This is part of the painting.
