A homoerotic exploration of beauty to the rhythm of Richard Wagner, Zarah Leander and Sergei Eisenstein. Eric De Kuyper edited film and music clips, with Ulysses’ peregrinations to guide him.
Rossini, Wagner, Leander, Eisenstein, Cocteau and many others provided the building blocks for this historicizing video clip on the theme of the Odyssey. Friends and acquaintances of the director lent their bodies, and little by little this adventurous quest for beauty was born.
Pink Ulysses contains film fragments from well-known and lesser-known silent films such as La caduta di Troia by Piero Fosco and Luigi Romano Borgnetto, Battleship Potemkin and Strike by Sergei Eisenstein, Remény by Maurits Binger and L'éternel retour by Jean Delannoy. In term of its title and theme, the film is closely related to the American arthouse classic Pink Narcissus by James Bidgood (1971).
