Product Introduction
Fine Molds 1/72 Aircraft Series US Air Force F-4D Fighter Night Attacker Plastic Model 72747
Of the 825 total F-4Ds produced, the U.S. Air Force modified and equipped 71 with LORAN-D antennas (AN/ARN-92) and used them as "pathfinders" to guide fighter-bomber squadrons while receiving signals from ground-based tactical navigation signal stations.
These aircraft were further painted black on the underside as night fighter-bombers (night attackers) and saw action in Operation Linebacker towards the end of the Vietnam War.
The LORAND-D antenna is known as the "towel hanger" among military aircraft enthusiasts both in Japan and overseas.
The kit precisely reproduces the LORAND-D antenna using plastic parts.
