Description: A Surrealist etching of a lion, lioness, and lion tamer holding a chair, by Mexican artist Francisco Toledo (1950-2019), It's titled "Leone" (Lion) and was executed in 1970, this example being #80 of an edition of 250. 

The deckled edge of the sheet is dyed indigo (the same curious feature can be seen on the example of this print in the collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Art). 

It's from the collection of Barbara Torode and James Smart. Mr Smart was a Philadelphia Bulletin reporter, columnist, author and historian. Mrs Torode was an artist and graphic designer, who had previously been married to artist Peter Paone.

Size:  Sheet is 16.875" x 13", plate is 12" x 9.75"

Mark: Signed, titled and numbered in lower margin. 

Condition: Generally fine, hinged to an old piece of mat board.
