Magnificent, working pattern maker’s tool chest of James F. Fullum, born 1855, passed away 1925. This tool chest represents the outstanding work of a true craftsman. All tools are original to Mr. Fullum. I purchased the tool chest in 1980 from a tool dealer in Maine, USA. According to the previous owner, this tool chest remained untouched for 55 years. What makes this tool chest outstanding is that all of James’ tools remained intact throughout the 20th century. In my estimation, these tools have not been used for over 100 years. I have neither used nor sharpened any tools, and all are in their original condition. This tool chest is represents a part of American Industrial History. When did you ever see something like this for sale? Complete with tools, excellent chest, we know who made it. Someone commented when a pattern maker applied for a job, the employer wanted to inspect his tool chest; James would have got hired; did you know that? What would be more impressive than this displayed in your office or shop, or? And James was a patent holder to boot; not your average craftsman would you say?
