A rare original Victorian Era (1874-1881) The 12th East Suffolk Regiment of Foot brass cap badge.  The badge is a star with 25 points surmounted by the Castle of Gibraltar with the Key on top of the central turret.   On the star is a strap inscribed at the top "Montis Insignia Calpe", and at the bottom "East Suffolk".  The numerals "12" are in the center.  This badge is around 140 years old, in very good condition, and very scarce.  The loop fittings on the back are intact.  4.5 X 5.9 cm.
