Inside the covers, are some kid's pencil scratchings and stamps from The St. Joseph Institute, apparently a school or orphanage for boys in the early 1900s but not other library markings.Wear to ends and edges of covers, no dust jacket, attractive cover decorations are darkened but visible. Part of the Little Pilgrimage series, written in a light breezy epistolary style, it describes the scenes, people and history of this remarkable isle as it existed at the start of the twentieth century. The author was a highly regarded travel writer of her era.
