Harry, a 72-year-old man living in Manhattan, New York with his beloved cat Tonto, is forced to move out of his apartment due to zoning changes. He has no choice but to take Tonto to his eldest son's house, but he feels uneasy about his wife and ends up going to Chicago, relying on his daughter, Shirley. During the journey, he meets a hippie girl he picked up and is reunited with his first love. Harry continues his journey through Arizona and Los Angeles, where he forms connections with various people...
