Slide #2768 - Christ Before Herod

This is your chance to own an important piece of photographic memorabilia by one of the most innovative pioneers in cinematic history!

Siegmund Lubin - cinematic pioneer.
Perhaps no one was more active in laying the groundwork for the popularization of the motion picture industry than Siegmund Lubin. Himself, an optometrist, Lubin began his venture into the photographic industry by distributing and producing magic lantern picture slides. Early inventions in motion picture equipment captured his interest, and he ventured into making several very early motion pictures in the backyard of his home in Philadelphia. From those productions, Lubin produced the then popular Magic Lantern slides, which he continued to distribute, as well as early motion picture film that was just beginning to come into existence.  One of his first successes was in a cinematic interpretation of the "Passion Play" in 1898. Parts of this play were photographed in Lubin's backyard and in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia. This Magic Lantern slide is one of the slides that Siegmund Lubin produced from his 1898 "Passion Play" production.

I have several similar S. Lubin Magic Lantern slides that I am offering for sale (see my other listings). I will combine shipping of multiple slides to a single address to save on shipping costs.
