Wool Press 'n Lock Tiles Set of 4 Home Kit from Sewing By Sarah

The next innovation in Wool Pressing Mats is here! Designed by real quilters and sewists, these exclusive 10-inch by 10-inch felted wool tiles interlock to create a pressing surface with just the size and shape you need for the task at hand. While sometimes you need a large pressing mat, you'll often find a smaller mat—or a specially shaped mat—to be more convenient to work with. And when not needed, these 10-inch by 10-inch tiles separate easily for storage and for travel. In addition to the flexibility these tiles offer, their felted wool makes an ideal surface for pressing. Wool has natural fire resistant properties: it doesn’t melt, it doesn’t burn and it retains heat well. And because wool is heat resistant, it pushes the heat back into your item. The effect is to iron both sides at the same time, resulting in very flat quilt blocks and seams. Because the felted wool holds heat like a brick oven, the heat goes all the way through the fibers being pressed—so it's not necessary to use steam! Each tile consists of 1/2-inch thick, tightly packed, 100% felted wool. Separately or joined, the tiles make a stable flat surface to iron on, and your items stay put with no sliding! The mat 'grabs' your blocks and your patches as you press—a really big help when you're pressing blocks into submission. You can line up an edge of your block with your fingers and give a bit of a tug as you pull it square while pressing. Your items don’t slip like they do on a traditional ironing board and you can do all this without pinning. No distortion happens to your blocks as they stay in place while pressing. Nevertheless, you can pin into the mat if you do need to hold your item down for any reason. You don’t usually need to use starch, but when you do, you can easily clean the felted wool pressing mat under cool running water and then let it dry. These wonderful tiles combine in so many useful ways: Pressing a long binding to your quilt? Line them up in a row to make a long ironing surface. Pressing large blocks? Put four together to make a 20-inch by 20-inch mat, perfect for pressing large blocks. Have a specific size table for pressing? Get the combination you need specific to your workspace. Piecing? Grab a mat and put it next to your sewing machine. Working with a class or guild? Combine tiles with your quilting and sewing friends to make a huge pressing mat. This set includes four tiles, but a set of two tiles is also available. Made of: Felted Wool Size: 10in x 10in Use: Pressing Mat Contents: 4-Pack of Interlocking Wool Tiles
