Vintage Thorvald Marthinsen, 1945 Norwegian 830 Silver Liberation Spoon. Commemorating the liberation of Norway from German occupation at the end of the Second World War, 1945. Silversmith, Thorvald Marthinsen, Tonsberg, Norway,
Hallmarks at back of handle. In center of bowl is etched "NORGE, 1945". Around bowl is written: "Brutt Blev Lenker Band OG Tvang", translated, "Broken were the chains, ties and constraints/also seen this last word as coercion". On bowl, on each side is a section of chain before the verse. Measures 4 3/4".
