Wheel Thrown Studio Pottery Bottle by Michigan Artist Ryan Dalman

Product Description:

This bottle is expertly wheel thrown, trimmed, and brush decorated. This distinctive piece was then fired in a high temperature salt kiln. The layered glazes react to the turbulent atmosphere in the kiln in subtle and unpredictable ways, leading to interesting variations in the semi gloss surface.

The bottle is austere and introspective, yet playful in execution. It is well made and feels comfortable and balanced in the hand. The artist expertly marries Japanese traditional aesthetics with American sensibilities in his, or her, work.

From the Artist:

"The town potter of Big Bay, Michigan is who I strive to be. I hope my pottery is fun to use, view, and display. Subconsciously each piece reflects the woods, duck hunting in the fall, watching the imaginations of my children, and patterns my wife knits, as well as simply amusing myself in the studio with goofy ideas of line and color. Wood firing adds another layer. Random patterns of ash and firework touch each pot differently, permanently. These effects are purely natural and are as hard to exactly reproduce as a snow flake."

Clearly marked with the artist's stamped chop mark.
