Marcel Breuer's Story
Marcel Lajos Breuer was a Hungarian-American modernist
architect and furniture designer, known for the Wassily
Chair and the Cesca Chair, which The New York Times have
called some of the most important chairs of the 20th
century.
His work includes art museums, libraries, college
buildings, office buildings, and residences, among which
are:
New York's Whitney Museum of American Art (1966)
IBM Research Center in La Gaude, France (1961)
U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development
in Washington, D.C. (1963–1968)
UNESCO
Headquarters in Paris (1958)
He is regarded as one of the great innovators of modern
furniture design and one of the most-influential figure
in "internationalism" – a major architectural style
dominant until the 1970s.
Cesca Chair
Marcel Breuer created the Cesca Chair shortly after
leaving the Bauhaus in 1928 and named it after his
adopted daughter Francesca. The chair consists of a
tubular steel frame, rattan seat and backrest and
inherently tied to the material innovation and design
principles he formed at the German design school.
While designing the chair, Breuer found inspiration in
the tubular steel construction of a bicycle.
"Mass production and standardization had already
made me interested in polished metal, in shiny
and impeccable lines in space as new components
for our interiors. I considered such polished
and curved lines not only symbolic of our modern
technology, but actually technology itself."
Marcel Breuer
The Cesca chair was the first tubular-steel-frame,
caned-seat chair to be mass-produced. Now, the chair is
considered as one of "the 10 most important chairs of
the 20th century".
Manufacturer Details
As a leading manufacturer and supplier of Breuer Cesca Chairs
and chair replacement parts we have always considered wood,
metal, and natural cane as noble materials and this is reflected
in the final quality of all our products.
Through all phases of production, we maintain a respect for
nature and the many years that have gone into growing the wood
and cane we use. All our products are eco-friendly and made in
our factory in Italy. We use authentic solid Italian beech wood
with natural superior caning techniques used for over 50 years.
Many have tried to imitate our authentic products but they can
not duplicate our superior quality in craftsmanship. Our chair
frames are one piece and triple coated in chrome for long
lasting durability for years to come.
Since 1967, Breuer Chair Company's vision has endured – offering
high quality Italian-made products to the furniture and
restoration trade. Personalized products are available upon
request tailored to meet the specific needs of each customer's
home or business.

Perfect!
Easy to assemble, even by people who begin the task with, "I think our drill has a driver. Go find the instruction manual!" Quality of all components is evident during assembly. We sat on those "other" imports in a local store, and Breuer Chairs are superior in every way-very sturdy and comfortable-and the Chrome/Natural finish matches our kitchen perfectly!

Poor Chairs
The quality is horrible! I would not recommend these chairs. I waited patiently for 6 weeks and had such high hopes, but unfortunately the holes in the seat and the holes in the legs aren't fully aligned so the nails aren't able to be drilled through. After multiple tries with my power drill and even contacting Customer Support, they were not able to help me. As a result, the chairs are wobbly because they're not fully attached.

A power drill/screwdriver is desirable to assemble more than a single chair.
We had a set of these chairs approximately thirty plus years ago but ultimately gave them to family members when we remodeled. Still have same great quality and dynamite looks with a kitchen table. Glad we found these again.

Cute but hard to assemble
Super cute chairs that could have been easier to put tgt. Its impossible to assemble alone and without an electronic drill. That said the chair is cute and sturdy.

Screw holes not coordinated for assembly.
Chair back hole indicators were not accurate. When this was questioned, the response was to send same instructions which came with the chair. Not properly coordinated.
