This is a blower resistor for 1993 - 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the automatic temperature controls.  My parts are genuine original OEM parts that were gently removed from parts vehicles and I'll guarantee them to work when they arrive.  For what it's worth, these original parts were made in Japan to Jeep/Chrysler's specifications, assumedly with significant quality control, unlike the new cheap Chinese knockoffs available for around $30.

Please carefully compare my photos and the part numbers with your unit before purchasing my part to make sure you're buying the right part.  This item does not include the wiring connectors...see my other items if you need the connectors.

The resistor is located in the passenger side footwell and is visible if you stick your head in and look up with a good flash light.  It's mounted with 2 Phillips screws and is literally a 5 minute (or less) job to replace.  The hardest part of the process is removing the electrical connectors from the old resistor...you may want to have someone with small fingers to help with that or get a good light & mirrors in there to help.  Your part MUST have the two matching connectors.  Units without ATC are mounted in about the same spot but only have one electrical connector.

In all reality, these resistors would work forever if the blower fan didn’t get bound up with leaves or other debris and require too much amperage to turn.  The other way these fail is when the bearings or brushes in the blower motor start wearing out and require too much current.  If a bunch of debris fell out of the hole when you removed your old one they you probably found the only real problem.  The blower motor resistor is just acting like a very expensive fuse when these problems arise.  Too bad it lets stuff melt before it blows
