Two simple and reliable one-way cassette mechanisms are equipped, allowing the user to swap the cassette in TAPE 2 while TAPE 1 is playing (or recording) and the cassette in TAPE 2 is ready for the next playback (or recording). Since each deck is equipped with its own drive unit, playback (or recording) can be continued without worry, even if one deck is being played back (or recorded) while the other deck is being operated (switching tapes, fast-forwarding or rewinding). The Dolby B NR system supports recording and playback of normal tape (TYPE I) and chrome tape (TYPE II), and playback of metal tape (TYPE IV), ensuring that various types of tapes recorded in the past can be reproduced with higher fidelity.

Noise reduction system that plays back tapes recorded with Dolby B NR system in a state close to the original

A noise reduction system that reduces the hissing noise that is inherent in cassette tapes. Cassette tapes recorded with Dolby B NR (Dolby B-type noise reduction) in the past can be played back in a state close to the original sound.

However, TEAC has developed a proprietary noise reduction system that has an effect equivalent to Dolby B NR in order to revive valuable cassette tape assets as close to the original sound as possible. Pitch control and RTZ functions

The TAPE 1 side has a pitch control function (playback only) that allows fine adjustment of tape playback speed within a wide range of ±12%, allowing playback to return to the original state if there is a difference between the tape speed during recording and playback. It can also be used in various other ways, such as lowering the tape playback speed when transcribing minutes or readings to make it easier to hear the voice. The convenient RTZ (Return to Zero) function, which returns to the counter position "0000" with a single button press, is provided on both the TAPE 1 and TAPE 2 sides.

Simultaneous recording (parallel recording) function convenient for cassette duplication

The parallel recording function allows simultaneous recording from the line input to two cassette tapes at the same time. This is useful, for example, when a master tape and a distribution tape need to be made at the same time for distribution after recording.

REC MUTE function allows you to set the length of the silent recording section to any desired length.

The REC MUTE function allows you to record while deleting unnecessary parts between songs or inserting spaces (silent recording sections) between songs. By pressing the REC MUTE button during recording or recording standby, you can create a silent recording section of approximately 4 seconds. Depending on how you use this function, you can also create any number of seconds (other than 4 seconds) of silence, allowing you to edit the tape as you wish.

Microphone input and microphone mixing function convenient for karaoke, announcements, etc.

Microphone audio can be mixed with sound from cassette tapes or external equipment connected to the line input jack to record onto cassette tapes. The microphone input level can also be adjusted, making it possible to use the unit for karaoke or announcement purposes even when an external mixer is not available.

Of course, it is also possible to record only the microphone audio onto a tape, and when used in conjunction with the aforementioned simultaneous recording (parallel recording) function, two tapes can be created at the same time, one for the master and the other for distribution.

This unit does not support stereo microphones. Please use a monaural microphone.

One-touch dubbing function

With the touch of a button, you can easily dub cassette tapes and make copies of the original tapes. Even while dubbing, a silent recording section can be created by pressing the REC MUTE button, which can be used not only to add silent sections between tracks, but also as a simple editing function to erase unwanted sections.

FL display with level meter

The display, which displays all the information necessary for deck operation, including level meters and digital tape counters independent of TAPE 1/2, which are indispensable for full-scale recording equipment, uses a high-contrast, high-brightness FL system. A dimmer function is also provided to adjust the brightness according to the installation environment.

USB digital output terminal for digital recording on a PC

A USB digital output terminal is provided for digital recording* of audio from cassette tapes on a PC. Recording can be easily performed by connecting the USB terminal on the rear side of the unit to a PC. Since cassette tape sound can be digitally output as CD-quality (maximum PCM 48kHz/16bit) digital data, valuable cassette tape assets can be digitally archived.

Once digitally archived, cassette tapes can be easily played on PCs, smartphones, DAPs (digital audio players), car audio systems, etc., regardless of where or when.

Digital recording software such as Audacity or GarageBand must be installed on the computer.

Supports timer recording and playback

A "timer playback/recording" function is provided that allows you to connect a commercially available audio timer and start playback or recording at a set time.

This unit does not have a clock function. Timer operation cannot be performed with this unit alone.
