The ornate spelter components of the antique base/candlestick are split
crack and repair free while showing negligible signs of wear or use.
The column does show some signs of wear/use but nothing significant and
has good even gloss. In saying this there are three nicks to the bottom
of the porcelain column. These are all situated in one area and close to the top of the spelter column fitting. One is not concealed and these can be faced to the back.
The moulded optical fount is in excellent condition. It does have a
couple of inclusions (black spots/grit) commensurate with glass of this age. It
has good even gloss and shows little or no signs of wear/use.
The original collar is in excellent condition.
The original burner is in excellent condition. The wick winder moves freely with no excess
movement and the button is crack/damage free.
All chimney prongs are present and undamaged.
The shade is in excellent condition.
It shows little or no signs of wear and/or use with good even gloss. The
top rim is immaculate whilst the bottom has a number of tiny fleabites which
are barely visible.
The shade fitter sits directly on the burner shade lip but a size
appropriate French gallery could be added for increased stability.
This fount needs to be affixed to the base but if I do so I will be unable to completely dismantle it which increases the risk of damage. I will provide the
Plaster of Paris with instructions
and will be available to help if you have any questions or concerns.
While this lamp is predominantly white and gold the opalene stripe in
the pale yellow shade ties this lamp together beautifully.
