Record in DSD for better sound.

While the term "high-resolution" has become commonplace and hardware such as USB DACs abound, no one has found a solution to the lack of music sources for listening with this hardware.

Korg, which has been pursuing high sound quality with DSD since long before the boom, now offers a new proposal.

Using technology cultivated over many years through the development of the MR Series of DSD recorders, which are used in demanding professional settings, and AudioGate, the standard high-resolution playback software, Korg has realized a DSD recording system by incorporating a professional-quality AD converter in a USB DAC. Phono input is also supported, making it ideal for archiving analog records.

If you don't have a source you want to listen to, record it yourself: the 1BIT USB-DAC / ADC, DS-DAC-10R.

The DS-DAC-10R and AudioGate 4 are all you need for DSD recording.

The DS-DAC-10R adds a new high-quality recording function to the simplest high-quality sound playback system familiar to the DS-DAC series.

Both recording and playback are compatible with 5.6MHz and 2.8MHz DSD and PCM formats up to 192kHz/24bit. From now on, you can not only wait for releases from distribution sites, but also record your own sources in DSD and listen to them in good sound whenever you want.

Equipped with a phono input terminal for direct connection of a record player.

In recent years, analog vinyl records have come back into the limelight due to their superior sound quality and style of pure music enjoyment that cannot be found in digital sources. At the same time, there are many people who want to organize their record collections as music data and enjoy them easily.

The DS-DAC-10R is equipped with a phono input terminal and ground terminal for direct connection of your record player. This makes it easy to convert vinyl records to high-resolution data in DSD quality and manage the tracks on AudioGate. The input terminals also support LINE-level input from cassette decks, making this system ideal for archiving your precious collection.

DSD phono equalizer (*1) with selectable hang recording / hang recording.

The DS-DAC-10R has a DSD phono equalizer built into the included "AudioGate 4" software that minimizes the effect on the original sound during the equalization process and brings out the full sound pushed in during record cutting. In addition to the standard RIAA curve, five other curves (*2) can be supported, allowing the user to not only multiply recordings, but also to post-hang the original sound on the input/recorded vinyl. This is the latest technology that brings you closer to the true potential of analog records, which until now even high-end audio equipment has been unable to bring out.

1. Analog record cutting machines carve the grooves wider as the frequency of the sound decreases. Therefore, cut records are recorded with low frequencies attenuated and high frequencies emphasized, and these are corrected with an inverse characteristic curve during playback. The "phono equalizer" performs this correction. Since the output level of record players is lower than that of general audio equipment, it is necessary to amplify the input signal, and many record players use a phono equalizer to fulfill this role. The DS-DAC-10R, however, uses analog circuits for amplification and digital signal processing (using AudioGate 4) for equalization.

RIAA is a standard for recording and playback curves established by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and was standardized in 1954. The curves are not written on the recordings. Since the curves are not listed on the recordings, it is impossible to know which curves were actually used for recording.

Carefully selected parts are used to achieve the best sound quality.

The same PCM4202 (made by TI) used in the MR-2000S 1-BIT STUDIO recorder is used in the AD converter. The quality of the recorder is the same as that used by many professionals in the field. The phono amplifier pre-stage circuit uses high-performance parts such as OPA1662 (TI) and thin-film polymer multilayer capacitors (PMLCAP®/Rubycon) to take full advantage of the phono cartridge's performance.

For the DA converter, the same CS4398 (Cirrus Logic) was selected as used in the MR-2000S and DS-DAC series, and the DS-DAC-10R also inherits Korg's sound motto of "faithfully reproducing the original sound without coloring the sound.

It supports "DSD native playback" of 2.8224 MHz and 5.6448 MHz DSD files.

Korg was quick to recognize the high / good sound quality of DSD, and has been using DSD as the recording format for the MR series recorders to great acclaim. As a result, most of the DSD content from major music distribution sites has been converted to DSD by the MR series.

It is no exaggeration to say that the DS-DAC-10R "reproduces delivered DSD content most faithfully" by "reproducing DSD data natively in DSD" to maximize the quality of that DSD data.

Simple and stylish design.

The DS-DAC-10R is designed to be added to your existing audio system, with a high-grade die-cast body and a simple design with only the headphone volume and jacks on the surface. The LEDs on the volume knob function as a playback format indicator and a recording indicator.

The copper-plated plate on the rear panel and the gold-plated terminals are all part of the high-quality design, not only inside but also in visible parts.

Playback is possible by connecting to iAudioGate (*3).

Playback is possible in combination with iAudioGate, a high-resolution music player for iPhone. More easily than with a PC, you can connect your iPhone whenever you think of it and enjoy playback of your vinyl archives (*4).

3. Requires the use of a compatible Apple connection kit/adapter and power supply through a powered USB hub.

4. iAudioGate is not equipped with a phono equalizer function.
