You are buying a new/unused full color U.S. Navy Reserve patch set from Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 61 (VR-61) "Islanders" located at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington.

The first patch (measures almost 4.5" tall by 4.5" wide and is 100% embroidered) is the "Islanders" unit patch.  It features an American Bald Eagle flying over Whidbey Island with the Olympic Peninsula, Puget Sound and the mountains Mount St Helens and Mount Adams - "brother" and "sister" mountains in the region, in the background.

The second patch is an "Islander" unit name (blank - no name embroidered) patch (measures about 2" tall by 4" wide) and features gold colored Naval Aircrew Wings (authorized for personnel who have undergone extensive training in flight operations of naval aircraft) at the top.  Aircrew wings are issued almost exclusively to enlisted aviation ratings, with the exception of other sailors in other naval ratings who are assigned to aircrew billets.  The patch has the two colors of the squadron (light blue and dark blue) and the unit's designation "VR-61" in gold colored embroidery in the lower right corner.

Fleet Logistics Support Squadrons operate Navy Unique Fleet Essential Airlift (NUFEA) aircraft on a worldwide basis to providing responsive, flexible, and rapidly deployable air logistics support required to sustain combat operations from the sea.  During peacetime, the squadron provides air logistics support for all Navy commands as well as provide continuous quality training for mobilization readiness.  In general, Fleet Logistics Support Squadrons have no counterpart in the Regular Navy. They represent 100% of the Navy's medium and heavy intra-theater airlift, and operate year-round around the world, providing the critical link between deployed seagoing units and air mobility command logistics hubs."
