Stalactites and Stalagmites are formed from the roof of a cave, and on the floor of a cave. Amethyst Stalactites grow from the ceiling of the cave down to the floor. While the Amethyst Stalagmites grow from the floor up to the ceiling of the cave. However, both these magical forms of Amethyst form the same way. This magical growth process begins with one droplet of mineral-rich water at a time! When the drop falls, it leaves behind the thinnest ring of calcite. Each subsequent drop that forms and falls deposits another ring. Over time, these rings build to create a stunning column of minerals. Once the Agate Center grows and forms from these droplets of water over so many millions of years, the Amethyst Crystals then grow around the outside of this magical formation.
