Condition: Hardbound in heavy quarter leather over marbled boards; Considerable edgewear with corners worn to boards and scuffing of spine hinges. Ex libris with the usual bookplates and call numbers but no other stamps notable. Pages age toned but not foxed. TItle page separating but still attached. Otherwise clean, very tightly bound, and unmarked throughout. Overall VG+ condition; an attractive volume.
Information: This is the major bibliographical reference for historians of astronomy and researchers looking for information published before 1880. A magisterial work, written in French, but referencing major European languages, this is the second part of the first volume, containing sections III--Biographies and Letters; IV--Didactic words and General astronomy; V---Spherical Astronomy; and VI--Theoretical Astronomy; Also Note that this is volume I part 2 only.
