The SunTouch UnderFloor Heating Mat is designed for indoor installation beneath a wood subfloor, mounted between floor joists. It installs below the subfloor rather than within the finished floor and is not placed in mortar, thinset, or concrete, nor installed on top of the subfloor. The UnderFloor Heating Mat heats the room by radiating warmth upward through the subfloor and the finished flooring above, making it an ideal below-subfloor radiant heating solution. It warms the finished floor above without altering the floor build-up, making it well suited for projects involving tile applications such as bathroom tile, kitchen tile, and basement tile. The system delivers dependable warmth and long-term comfort when installed according to manufacturer instructions and local electrical codes.

Compatible floor structures include wood-framed floors with plywood or OSB subfloors, including floor assemblies where cement backer board and tile are installed on top of the subfloor. Proper insulation below the mat is required to maximize system performance. Suitable for a wide range of room sizes and layouts in both new construction and remodeling projects, the SunTouch UnderFloor Heating Mat works beneath virtually any finished flooring installed above the subfloor, including nail-down hardwood, while keeping the finished floor height unchanged.

Ideal finished flooring types include ceramic tile, porcelain tile, marble tile, cement tile, natural stone tile, granite tile, mosaic tile, slate tile, limestone tile, quartzite tile, onyx tile, travertine tile, glass tile, and engineered stone tile, offering flexible layout options to meet diverse project needs. Ideal for bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchens, entryways, laundry rooms, mudrooms, sunrooms, basements, hallways, and other indoor living spaces, the system is also compatible with resilient floor coverings, including LVT, vinyl tile, luxury vinyl plank, laminate flooring, engineered wood, hardwood, stone plastic composite (SPC), and alternate floor coverings, when the finished flooring is approved for radiant heating and installed within the flooring manufacturer’s specified temperature limits.
