*One symptom that hammers are worn out is that the while tool builds rpm (so internal binding and worn vanes are not an issue) and hits solidly on the fastener it will take a fair amount of trigger pull time to loosen or tighten the bolt or nut. An anvil used with worn hammers takes on excessive wear or chipping either on the internal contact points or on the square drive by starting to round the 4 drive end corners. Check to make sure that you have 90 PSI to the tool with full trigger depression and that the inlet screen is not plugged, that the tool air fitting is a high volume air flow type and that your air hose is not internally fragmenting causing air delivery problems to the tool. Amflo CP7 style or Morse equivalent is my standard fitting recommendation. Always change hammers and hammer pins in pairs and make sure the anvil is deburred on any slightly chipped contact points with the hammers. If you are not sure change the anvil and the hammers together or risk shattering the hammer frame with excessive and prolonged hammering.

Locate the single hammer pin slot (outside perimeter) forward and the wider hammer pin groove (outside perimeter) toward the rear hammer frame splines. This is noteworthy.

AGAIN:

*Make sure to rotate the hammers and align them so that the single hammer pin slot (on the outside perimeter) faces toward the front of the tool.

*Make sure to rotate and align the wider hammer pin slot (on the outside perimeter) toward the rear splines.

*This positioning counterbalances the motion of the hammer frame assembly inside the tool and assures that the tool will work the way it was engineered to perform.
