  • This is an authentic Kenyan handmade soapstone carving set of a candle holder with angel carvings on the sides. Kisii soapstone is named after the Kisii people of the Tabaka Hills in Western Kenya and is the only place it is found in the region. For many families soapstone carvings are their primary and only source of income. The whole family is involved in the soapstone carving process. The men perform the carving and sanding tasks and the women do the washing, drying, waxing and polishing to give the soapstone carving its glossy finish.

  • This piece is made from soap stone, a metamorphic rock commonly referred to steatite, it is known for being soft and easy to work with.
  • The piece measure approximately 4" in height 7" in length and 3" in width and weighs approximately 650 grams.
