 "Forget the (GHz base speed) number.  One quad core processor is faster than one dual core processor.  It's just like a Pentium D processor.  You can buy a 3.8Ghz Pentium D and how fast is that?  Well it has like 512K of cache, vs 2 meg or 4 meg dual core cache.  Dual core when they were first introduced were faster, even though they were only 1.6Ghz.  That's not combined speed, that's PER core, so sure 2 of them comprise 3.2GHz, but a SINGLE processor on a dual processor can outperform even a Pentium D 3.8GHz processor.  Why? Because they were designed to be more efficient.  More instructions per second, more L2 cache, faster FSB, and the processor itself is more powerful (even though it's less than half the speed).  NOW, you put two of them on a socket, and you have a really fast processor (set) ...  

Move ahead (from Dual Core) to  Quad Core, and the same increases, better performance, and larger cache accounts for EACH core being faster.  They can do more, at slower rated speed, and still use less power. That's the difference!"

And this remains particularly true in so very many cases when you move from a quad core CPU system to a hexa core CPU system too!

In other words, the operating system is tricked into seeing two CPUs for each actual CPU core."

"Hyper-Threading (HT) is a technology Intel released on their Pentium 4 and Xeon-equivalent series of processors. When you use a HT-enabled CPU you will notice in your system profile that it reports you have two processors instead of just one. While you think,”that’s amazing! I have two processors IN ONE!” this is not the case. What HT actually is, technology-wise, is a duplication on certain sections of the processor that handle the state of threads. It does not actually duplicate the main resources on the processor. This allows the operating system to schedule two threads at the same time. A thread is basically an instruction that is given to the CPU and waits for a result."  

WOULD YOU BE AWARE OF WHAT SOME VENDORS MIGHT BE WILLING TO OVERSTATE AND EXAGGERATE IN ANY ONE OF THEIR SYSTEM'S ADVERTISEMENTS IN ORDER TO CAPTURE A TRADER'S PREMIUM?  PROCESSORS ARE NOT CORES, AND CORES ARE NOT THREADS, AND THREADS ARE MOST CERTAINLY NOT PROCESSORS!

PTSG will never tell a trader that a TRADING COMPUTER has "24 processors" when it only may only have 1 or 2 with multiple cores, and perhaps hyperthreads!

PTSG will never mislead a trader regarding a TRADING COMPUTER'S actual component name or abilities, such as by claiming a system has, (or marketing a system "with") an "i7 Xeon," or even a Dual set of 'such components' and using the term i7 to 'bait' a trader, when NO i7 XEON WAS EVER PRODUCED BY INTEL.  NO i7 XEON EXISTS.

PTSG will never list a TRADING COMPUTER as 'Only 1 left', and then add another system available to the same listing as soon as that last computer is sold!

PTSG will never substitute 'hyperbole,' for a TRADING COMPUTER'S actual component quality and performance, nor fail to focus on the most important component within a trading computer for the 'real-time market high data volume streaming trading platform-based visual daytrader," that most important component being by far the trading system's GPU Complex!
