Antique Persian Mamluk (?) Engraved Brass Plate w/ Royalty astride a camel, includes a peacock, elephant and a man servant. This brass plate measures 7.5" in diameter and .5" in height with the raised rim.There are no dent or scratches in this piece. The peacock is a symbol of Persian monarchy and is a popular motif in Persian design. The elephant refers to the epic hero Rostam from the Shah-Namah (Book of Kings), and symbolizes a force of conquest from India. The camel was one of the first domesticated draft animals and is inextricably bound with Persian history. This plate is representative of Ancient Persian Culture.
