B.M. Bower (Illustrated by Charles M Russell) - Chip of the Flying U - Dillingham, 1906 - 1st Edition / 1st Printing - "Issued April 1906" stated on the copyright page with no mention of later printings as required in order to denote the first printing of the first edition. First issue without sepia tone to the illustrations.
This example with areas of rubbing, a pair of small stains, a named neatly penned on the paste down and binding is cracked at the frontis with illustration loose but still attached. All that being said the rest of the block is square and tight with the other illustrations firmly in place. The cover design of a cowboy roping a steer is still bright, clean and easy to read. This is the correct first issue without the sepia tone to the superb illustrations by Charles M Russell. This title is desirable for the wonderful Russell plates as well as the fact that it served as the basis for 3 separate films.
