Inside inscription reads "G. E. H. Mason League Island Navy Yard 1899".  There is some additional writing that I cannot read but this is from the now North Island Navy Yard on Coronado Island, CA. It is quite the collectible as it is in incredible condition especially for it's age.  I can find no other edition to compare it to and while the inscription is dated 1899, I believe this to be a 1st edition from 1897. This is NOT a reprint.  Note that the tops of the pages are gold in color and still bright.
