For nearly 20 years, Aussie Mushrooms has been at the forefront of Australian mycology. Now, you can build your genetic library using the exact same premium agar plates we rely on every single day at our own commercial farm.
If you are tired of losing your valuable cultures to bacterial contamination, these ready-to-use plates are your ultimate safeguard.
The Base: We use a perfectly balanced Malt Extract Agar (MEA) recipe, utilising premium agar as the solidifying agent. This provides the ideal nutritional foundation for strong, aggressive, and highly visible mycelial growth.
The Added EXTRA: To protect your genetics from the start, we’ve fortified this blend with Gentamicin, a highly effective, broad-spectrum antibacterial agent. It stops bacterial hitchhikers in their tracks without affecting your mushroom mycelium. Once you have a clean culture its reccomendd to goto MEA agar
Contamination in cheap plates often starts before you even open them. We don't cut corners.
True Sterilization: Every single batch of our agar is strictly monitored LIVE while it cooks. It is properly sterilized in our commercial autoclaves above the required 121°C for the exact minimum time needed to destroy all bacterial cells. We can provide sterilization certificates if required.
Class 100 Cleanroom Poured: The plates are poured and cooled inside Australia's largest, one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art Class 100 commercial laboratory. This guarantees that when your plates arrive, they are 100% clean, sterile, and ready to use right out of the package.
Unbox them right away—do not leave them sitting in the shipping box for over a month! Store them at room temperature between 10–20°C.
If you experience any issues resulting from shipping (which will show up within a week of arrival), please send us photos within 2 weeks and we will happily replace them.
Please note our strict policy:
Order When You Need Them: If you are not ready to use the plates within a few weeks of arriving, please wait and only order them when you need them.
Send Photos Unopened: You must send photos of the unopened bag. If you open the bag in an unsterile area, you are on your own, as we cannot cover contamination mistakes made outside a clean environment.
The 2-Week Window: If you contact us outside of the 2-week window—for example, if you leave the plates in the closed box and only check on them a month later—we will not be able to offer a replacement or refund, as they have not been checked or cared for properly upon arrival.
Work Clean: While our antibacterial plates give you a massive head start against bacteria, mold spores are still floating everywhere in your house! To ensure your inoculations and transfers stay perfectly clean, we highly recommend working inside a Still Air Box (SAB) or under a laminar flow hood at an absolute minimum.
Seal Your Plates: Once you have used the plates for your transfers or inoculations, always close and seal the edges with Parafilm or micropore tape. This keeps the moisture locked in and airborne contaminants locked out. Always store your unused plates in ziplock sandwich bags to keep them protected and prevent the agar from drying out.
