This book is  12"x13"x1 1/4" in size.  It contains a survey of design in furniture, glass and ceramics, tableware, lighting, home goods and fabric in the post war period up until 1984 when this exhibition was mounted at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The show was monumental and formed a significant foundation in my own thinking and knowledge of design.

There 250 pages of essays, descriptions and surveys of the works with a small biography at the end for each of the designers represented.

The introductory essays in themselves by Ettore Sottsass, George Nelson, Niels Diffrient, Paul Reily, Dieter Rams, Hans Wegner, Achille Castiglioni , Carl Pott, Jack Lenor Larsen and others will provide a vivid introduction to the range of approaches to use and materials in the post war era.

This is such an important book cataloging this very important exhibition. There should be a copy in every library of design on every designer's book shelf.
