Under the Ohio Retail Sales Tax Law of 1935, most items sold in stores faced taxation. The sales tax increased money to schools. Merchants were required to buy Paper stamps from the State and give the receipt part to consumers to prove that merchants were being charged state sales tax to them. The stamps were issued in two sections: the vendor half on the Left and the consumer half on the Right.
