Tech Notes
Every E30 instrument cluster has two white plastic detachable little housings with a lens right by it. The BMW name for these housings is: "optical conductor." One of these is for the "Check" function and the other is for the blue high beam indicator and the green turn signal indicators.
After 30+ years of being in direct contact and baking in the hot sun, sometimes these parts form a bond. Then, when I separate the lens from the optical conductor, some surface material from the lens might detach from the lens and stay on the optical conductor instead. This does not make either item a perfect-looking part, but this phenomenon is around the edges so it does not affect functionality.
For this reason, I offer these parts without identifying this condition as a flaw, if and when it occurs.
This BMW part number is made by one of two BMW vendors, either VDO or Motometer. These are nevertheless interchangeable.
