This is an outstanding 1930's Mexican Santo from the state of Oaxaca.  It is hand made out of clay.  The overall design is Colonial in style.  It is extremely rare.  The folk artist here had a vision.  Both the expression on the faces and the posture of the figure are sublime.  Now the coloration.  Blues, grays, ivory, and flesh tones.  That is all.  And the colonial detailing around the robe to the crown are truly an inspiration.  This Santo should really be in a folk art museum, it is just that good.  And the size is outstanding.  15 inches tall by almost 12 inches wide at the base.  Also she has great weight.  Almost 10 pounds.  So very secure where she rests.  My wife and I have discovered where ever it is placed it catches every visitors eye.  We have had it in our collection for over 40 years.  And always well taken care of. Available for the first time from our collection of antique Mexican Folk Art.   And for a great price! A great find!
