Description: The book is
in very good condition. Pictorial Hardcover. Dust cover is clear plastic with
white lettering on front cover and gold lettering on spine. The dust jacket has
a 1-inch tear on top near the spine. There is a rear pocket with two pamphlets.
The top of the pocket has an inscription. illustrated throughout in color and
B/W -170 lithographs in both full color, tinted color, and black & white
within the book. The supplement contains another 18 lithographs.
First edition and first printing. Edna Hibel (1917-2014) graduated
from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in 1939 and held a fellowship to
study in Mexico. Her painting and lithography took on many subjects, including
portraiture and landscape; however, her most famous work was her "Mother
and Children" series, some of which is featured in this book, a collection
edited by Hibel's husband, Theodore Plotkin. Hibel's legacy lives on with the
Edna Hibel Plotkin Endowment Fund as well as with the Hibel Museum of Art in
Jupiter, Florida.
