Silver Denarius, Rome mint, (2.85 grams, 18.12 mm). 


Obverse: IMP ANTONINVS AVG, His laureate draped bust right.

Reverse: FIDES MILITVM, Fides standing left holding standard and vexilum.

Nice portrait and reverse. Light toning.  Very limited roughness. 

An interesting coin with nice eye appeal. (# 04482-83)


Born Varius Avitus, he took the name Marcus Aurelius Antoninus upon his accession. He was called Elagabalus after the Sun-God he worshiped. 

His excesses were a major embarrassment for all. His Grand-mother Julia Maesa had him assassinated with his Mother Julia Soaemias 

and replaced by Severus Alexander.
