Offered here at a tiny fraction of Tek's price are TDS3012B scopes that range between 63 and 658 hours, made between 2003 and 2006. First buyer gets first pick. Some have NV suffix and were made for US Navy, but I do not see any real differences... (historically scopes made for US military were either more rugged or could withstand harsher environments).
TEK TDS3012B is a Digital Phosphor Oscilloscope... This means it is a digital storage scope with variable persistence and can offer rep rate clues in the trace intensity or color. DSOs that aren't also DPOs operate at same intensity regardless of rep rate of signal, so no rep rate clues are offered in what we call "gray-scaling".
TDS3012B has 2 channels, displaying in 2 colors: yellow for 1, blue for 2. Each of the 2 has all usual coupling choices available, including 50 ohm terminators.
Advantages of this scope over others I sell include: a) lightest weight: only 3Kg or 7 pounds (and smallest size), b) offers (optional) battery operation: besides being able to work away from line power, it also means easier floating (and breaking noisy ground loops), c) 10X longer record lengths than earlier portables, d) power for active probes is available at BNCs (as additional surrounding contacts) and e) more math (fast computational) capabilities.
Most photos are of serial # B031551, but all aare in equally nice shape. 3rd photo shows a 2Vpp 1Khz signal (from my PG506) fed into both 1 & 2 displaying correctly. 4th shows 1mS tickmarks from my TG501 displaying correctly. 5th shows fast rising edge of a 1MHz 1Vpp stretched at scope's fastest sweep displaying risetime of about 3nS (consistent with 100MHz bandwidth) into both channels, Screen dates on lower right corner of screen may reflect a long passage of time since shooting photos rather than slow internal clock. Also, in last photo scope's log recorded some floppy disc drive errors which were simply the result of a disconnected cable. I do not have the password to erase error log, and floppy disc drive works now.
More details on these scopes are available on Tek's website, where you can also download manual, and various tech tips. Please note that the latest C version uses thumb drive memory sticks instead of 3.5inch floppies, but the latest C version cost around $9190 new ... makes mine at 1/9th Tek's price a bargain! Diskettes can still be found, even on ebay, and if your computer is too new to have a floppy drive, external drives with USB can be cheaply found (again on ebay). In case you are curious about what the B version (introduced in 2003) added (over the plain introduced in 1999), it was an ethernet connection in the rear and . The C (introduced in 2008, costing $9000 new) eliminated the front floppy as well as the rear 15V outlet and the DB25 Centronics parallel printer port to run a small optional portable printer. This series has had a 20 year run (longer than Tek 2400s), and many working specimens corroborate their reliability. Incidentally, 38 years ago when I started selling pre-owned scopes, for $810 (which was more valuable in 1988), all you could get from me (or others) was the classic/popular Tek 465, a far less powerful 100MHz scope, and more cumbersome (3X bigger, 3X heavier) to carry around, rejoice!.
At my asking price, I will send you a calibrated TDS3012B with 60 days guaranty, and;
a) new NVRAM installation INCLUDED FREE;
b) TDS3TRG app (adds some advanced trigger capability based on logic/pattern recognition) INCLUDED FREE, and
c) TDS3FFT app (adds some frequency domain/spectrum analyzer capability) INCLUDED FREE
There are extras you could get for it by looking at my other eBay listings.
Ask questions (in English or French). It's a good way to discuss your exact needs, match you with correct package, options, accessories... before you hit BIN.
Another advantage of buying from me is that I offer to replace the old Li battery backed timekeeping NVRAM, whereas others don't. It's not trivially simple or an end-user's task: instead of usual 2 terminals for a battery, the battery is embedded inside a soldered-in IC.
Please make sure Ebay has your current correct ship-to address before paying, as that is where I must ship item to. Mistakes are costlier to fix after paying than before paying.
If you are outside USA, shipping by public Airmail is not available since it does not satisfy Ebay tracking and delivery confirmation requirements. We can use DHL, FEDEX, or UPS (Fedex usually gives me lowest rates) and Ebay's calculator is often greatly wrong not in your favor... Can ask me for a quote (and please include address) or to have it travel on your account with any of the 3 by selecting "local pickup" option. Also, the excluded countries list is all in Ebay's imagination as I have no objection to ship to French overseas departments or Israel.
You get a 30 day right of exchange (or store credit), provided you return everything in same shape as found, tamper seals aren't breached, pack as well as I, and pay for all shipping.
Ebay as a large e-commerce site, collects sales tax for many of the 50 States (may spread to all). I have no control over that and I don't collect sales tax on my own out-of-California sales. If you are outside California and don't feel like paying the tax, buy something cheap(er) from me first (eg: a probe) and you won’t have to. Buy prudently please, asking questions before paying.
I leave +feedback after you do.
Works on any line voltage between 100 & 240 Vac w/o need for 115/230 switch... Ideal for world travel. Consumes only 35W (about half of a typical analog scope, about a fourth of a fullsize DSO).
CHEAPER ALTERNATIVE: if very low hours isn’t critical, I also have another listed for less $.
Buy more INCENTIVE: I offer 14% DISCOUNTs on buying subsequent items from me. To save 14% on this one (pay $697) buy anything else cheaper from me first (eg: a probe). Sequence matters... On non-1st purchases you can also skip state sales tax if you are not in California (which may be closer to a 20% discount), or reduce import tax if you are outside USA.
HURRY INCENTIVE: If you buy it paying my asking price today, I will add a FREE Tek probe. You may (should) want to buy an inexpensive accessory from me first to save 14% (or more) on the scope.if u you start with a probe, you’ll wind up with 2, and all for less than the BIN price.
