SCAPINO!

The plot? Well, it's all about love-starved young men, swooning young ladies, boisterous fathers, family honor, mistaken identity, threats to life and limb, cajolery and chicanery and a little pocket-picking--with a few songs and enough belly laughs to reduce the entire maze of plot and counterplot to one word: Scapino!
Loosely based on a French farce, set in Italy, written by two Englishmen, and filled with modern-day allusions to Kung-Fu, Baskin-Robbins ice cream and gangster films, SCAPINO! is a charming pastiche that will have you smiling from the opening scene to the closing song, Minestrone.
The hero, of course, is Scapino, a delightfully deceitful servant whose bag of tricks is just big enough to solve as many problems as it creates. When Scapino finally sets things right, the young men and young ladies are together, the boisterous fathers and family honor are placated, the threats are over, and the belly laughs are reduced to lingering smiles in remembering one of the most imaginative, heart-warming pieces of entertainment you've experienced in a long time.
