Woody Allen's third play is a bittersweet comedy set in a lower-middle class neighborhood in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn in 1945.  Here, Enid and Max Pollack grapple with each other and their unfulfilled dreams as they struggle to make ends meet, while their stuttering teenage son, Paul, retreats from his fear of people into a world of magical illusions.
